The Haworth Water Treatment Plant is located in Haworth, New Jersey and serves as the primary drinking water treatment plant for customers served by Veolia Northern Jersey Operations.
The plant has a capacity of 200 million gallons per day (mgd). On a typical day the plant treats an average of approximately 110 mgd which is pumped through more than 2,000 miles of water mains to 60 communities; enough to stretch the length of New Jersey more than 13 times.
In June 2009, the plant underwent $100 million plant upgrade. The facility is the largest water treatment plant in the U.S. to use high-rate dissolved air flotation (DAF) for sedimentation clarification. State-of-the-art DAF technology facilitates improved water quality, enhanced service reliability, reduced chemical and energy usage and the protection of sensitive ecosystems.
